An invitation to artists to contribute to the installation of a large glass communal nest to be installed at the Pittsburgh Glass Center this fall. The title of the exhibition is "Absence Of Body". All profits from the show go to benefit the PGC and local women's shelter, Bethlehem Haven.
"Absence Of Body" Exhibition
Susan Taylor Glasgow has been awarded a 2 month residency at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, concluding in a solo show titled "Absence of Body". The exhibition will focus on a giant Communual Nest 8' in diameter, made up of hundreds of glass twigs contributed by artists world wide. Artists are encouraged to create and send clear glass twigs 8" and larger to be added to the nest. Another opportunity to contribute to the nest is to sponser a glass artist from the Pittsburgh Glass Center to create a twig in your name. Well, My name is Jillian and i am Susan's intern for the spring semester.I first met Susan back in November at Chicago's SOFA conference and was given the wonderful opportunity to start working with her right away! Since the idea of the communal nest has arose, i have been fortunate to see it grow and involve into what it is now. I also have been lucky enough to help hatch out ideas and work on different prototypes. Many of my days in Susan's studio have been spent crushing glass- getting it to just the right size, problem solving, researching and being able to just soak in everything that goes on in a functioning glass studio. I am very excited for Susan and the "Communal Nest" and proud to say that i was around when things first started to take off!
